CLC Montreal thanks you!

May 21st, 2011 was a very special and memorable day.  We’re really happy that we were able to make it this far, to our 1-year anniversary, and know that we were able to do so much good work with the community, for the community.

This past weekend illustrated what it has been all about this past year – gathering together as a group of teachers, students, and friends from various different cultures, celebrating, and doing it all for a good cause.

The volunteers inspired us again, as we got to see with our own eyes, the great number of people who want to improve the lives of others.  With the continued support of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center of Montreal (JCCCM), we were able to raise more money for Japan.  It was such a great feeling, to see that through our collective efforts as a gigantic team, we were able to present a $ 15 000 cheque to the Canadian Red Cross.

Our celebration in the park included our famous j-dogs, yakisoba, homemade cookies, a calligraphy & origami booth, a children’s area, and performances by the following talented people:

  • Mr. Hidetake Yoneyama on the guitar
  • Singer Ms. Soiliane Renaud
  • Opera singer Mr. Genaro Rojas
  • Japanese folk dance by Komachi Montreal
  • Domestic Crisis Group
  • Ms. Nika Cantabile on the violin

Moreover, let’s not forget the beautiful mail art vernissage hosted by Kiera Pannell held inside the school on the same day.  It was like a second party!

Again, thank you everyone for your continued support!
