Meet Tara, one of our English teachers here at CLC! Tara always comes into the school with the warmest smile and the best attitude (and these are just some of the reasons we love having her around). Keep reading to learn more about her and her experience here in Montreal.
How did you come to speak the languages that you speak? My English came from my schooling and parents, and I learned basic Hindi from my family. Although French was a compulsory subject in school, I truly learned it in Montreal.
What languages would you like to learn/add to your repertoire? I really want to develop my Hindi, but Spanish is calling to me.
Where are you from and what do you like most about living in Montreal? I am from the countryside in Ontario. I love Montreal because of its artistic spirit and cultural diversity.
What is the one thing that most people don’t know about you? I make a mean chocolate cake
What inspires you to teach? Teaching inspires me for many reasons. Beyond the satisfaction of helping someone to communicate in a new way, I love how much I learn every day from interacting with students. We spend so much of our lives looking to the future or dwelling in the past, but being able to leave all that at the door and really be present with someone is a magical, eye opening thing.
What’s your side hustle? I DJ on the side from time to time.
What are you most proud of? Moving to Montreal by myself from a small town.
