Intergenerational Meals (brought to you by the NDG Food Depot)


This past Wednesday, CLC students had the chance to volunteer at the OHMH Girouard (a residence for active seniors). We prepared a delicious meal from scratch for a group of approximately 20 people. Our host, Andréanne, was very welcoming and patient to explain how to prepare the meal. The main meal consisted of fresh Vietnamese-style spring rolls with a tangy dipping sauce, vegetable fried rice, and tofu General Tao (this was my personal favourite to prepare and savour). For dessert, we concocted a delicious blueberry Bagatelle. It took us about two hours to prepare the meal (grating vegetables, mixing the various sauces, etc.), but it was well worth it. Our guests were delighted to converse with us as we were preparing the meal and were very thankful. It was a beautiful way to give back to the community — after all, food unites us.
