CLC loves to connect and give back to the community.
On Friday, June 19th, CLC’s Volunteer Club participated in Action Communiterre‘s “Thank You” party which was a special event for all people involved with this organization. Action Communiterre is involved in a wealth of activities such as creating local gardens, community clean-ups, etc. The location of the party was at the NDG Food Depot. For many of the students, this was their first experience volunteering in a Canadian setting. You are probably wondering what our task was at this event. Simple. We prepared hundreds of delicious appetizers for all to enjoy! Our host, Rebeka, was gracious enough to explain all the procedures to ensure food safety; afterwards, we quickly got right to work! This was a fabulous opportunity to connect with local community and we also had the chance to connect with other volunteers.
Here are some student comments about this volunteer activity:
“It was a great experience for me. I enjoyed it very much.” –Ayaka
“The place was very special. We learned how to make a new menu and how to volunteer. Also, speaking with strangers about food was a very good experience. I recommend that many CLC students join this club!”
The Volunteer Club at CLC will be continuing to plan other volunteer events all summer. Come check us out every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. (open to CLC students only).
