Many have wondered what CLC’s Hands On lesson is Students get a chance, during this afternoon class, to apply English/French in practical situations. For example, beginner students might flip through flyers to learn consumer goods vocabulary. Pre-intermediate students could spend an afternoon learning how to bake cookies, and as a result, acquire kitchen vocabulary and understand instructions written in the imperative form. Intermediate students might be given a tour of Montreal’s city hall before being asked to answer a variety of comprehension questions based on the tour. Finally, advanced students may be asked to make phone calls to practice their listening skills without the help of body language.
