CBC News paid a visit to our school today to report the upcoming cookie sale for the Japanese earthquake relief that will be held at CLC Montreal this Saturday, March 19, from 1pm to 5pm. The news segment will be aired tonight at 5pm, in the local Montreal CBC News program with reporter Kristen Falcao.
English student Chinatsu and French student Daichi were interviewed!
Following the recent horrific series of earthquakes in Japan, CLC Montreal opened its doors this past Saturday to its Japanese students, alumni members, friends and friends of friends to gather and make long distance calls to Japan if they needed to. During this time, a strong grassroots movement was formed: a group of motivated and dedicated Japanese volunteers, who didn’t know each other before, came together with one mission – to raise funds for their country’s earthquake relief.
A cookie sale, organized by this group, will take place this Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 1pm to 5pm, at CLC Montreal: 4260 ave Girouard #350 (corner Monkland and Girouard), Montréal, Québec (metro Villa Maria).
There will be Japanese calligraphy, nail art, accessories and Japanese homemade cookies sold. All proceeds will go towards the Canadian Red Cross’ Japanese Fund via the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center of Montreal.
